My Story

About the Author

Lejla Becirovic is a Bosnian refugee, currently living in the United States and working as a hospice social worker. Having experienced the troubling time's people face in war, she has dedicated her life to the society around her. She now aims to tend towards the need of others, especially the refugees.

As a Social Worker, she is the recipient of two letters from the President of United States commending her for her outstanding advocacy for disadvantaged populations. She has been nationally recognized as a Hospice Hero in 2018 and 2019 for exceptional things she does for her hospice patients.

Lejla fell in love with art at the age of 3 ½ and used her art as an escape during Bosnian’s civil war. In 1994 she moved to Twin Falls and quickly fell in love with the area. In 2007 she assisted a 5th grade class in illustrating a children’s book and became co-owner of Rebel Art Studio. She has participated in many local art shows and taught beginning and intermediate oil painting classes. She was also featured guest artist at the Full Moon Gallery August 2018 and has a collaborative piece that is permanently displayed at Bull Moose Bicycles in Twin Falls. Lejla has donated many paintings to various causes raising thousands of dollars to help those in need.

She has housed numerous homeless women and helped them get on their feet.

Lejla has always been inclined towards art – envisioning and creating it. A trait she inherited from her biological mother, yet she did not truly divulge in it until encouraged by her step-mother. As a result of their love, dedication, and belief in her, Lejla now shares her masterpieces with the world via the following platforms:
